Where does payroll fit into the equation for real revenue?
Payroll is considered part of Operating Expenses. If you’re using subcontractors to do the bulk of your work, then they are taken off the top to get your Real Revenue number.

Everyone needs a number that demonstrates their performance. I don't care what it is or what it means. But it needs to go up. Otherwise people will only be motivated by banal things like personal integrity, compensation, and a future for their careers. This is not far from parody.
What if i know without a shadow of a doubt that the people i a mailing are actively in market for what i offer, and the average buying cycle is between 14-30 days? Do i still need to repeat mailings?
this whole thing is yet another nightmare that won't go away. i will never vote red. but after 50 years of voting blue (most all of that in california) this bill woke me up. all the things that are going on in california eventually spread everywhere else. ALL these years voting blue and this is where we are?? so many idiots don't understand. i don't want to be a W2 worker. there are many benefits to being an IC, and zero as a W2 in my personal work history. no benefits either way. they used to offer me a low pay job and say but oh it has BENEFITS. well you cannot eat benefits! if you are unfortunate enough to work in retail or fast food, the wages are not going to keep you alive. they work you part-time mostly so they have to pay no benefits. and who can live on not just part time, but a schedule that changes WEEKLY?! uber just lost their suit. which was pretty lame to begin with. this (as you point out) is not about uber and lyft. i'm completely blocked from twitter/x/that idiot named elon, but the lady at the helm on this topic is "thekimkavin" in new jersey. i used to stay on top of the news by following her. now i can't see any of that. i spent the majority of my life working in silicon valley as a disposable W2 worker. never again. and according to most of the AB5 haters, this is all about unions. the unions fund the dems. the unions OWN the dems. they are trying to shove us all one way or another into a union. here in the bay area there is a FAUX group called "gig workers rising". they SHARE the same address in san jose as the stinking union. they are not gig workers.
We know all too well how important the 2 of us admin staff are to the clinic. To the point where we have an exit strategy that can force the entire clinic to close their doors and loose hundreds of thousands of bucks. Because it takes upwards of 5 months to train a new admin in this particular clinic, because their technology is rubbish and we need to know multiple systems, because none of them talk to each other. My “work wife” and I have a full plan to raze the clinic to the ground, because they are actually evil. In the 11 months I’ve been there, they have lost 3 admins, and 3 doctors. The sheer amount of gaslighting and toxicity in this clinic is astounding. 2 former admins had to take breaks after leaving this position, because they were actually traumatised and in the verge of mental breakdowns. We have no backup admin staff. No temps. The only people in the while clinic who can work the systems….are the 2 of us. And we are hatching our plan to leave the clinic in absolute chaos. You wouldn’t believe the sheer toxicity of this clinic. The clinic manager comes in MAYBE once a week….and spends the entire time screaming at her kids and ex on the phone…..where clients can hear. But if we talk or laugh…..we get reprimanded. The admin manager is soulless. A true micromanager who gets a real power trip out of gaslighting and manipulating other staff. She gossips about, and criticises other staff behind their back, thinking that we don’t talk to each other. The doctors are treated like gods, but dont know how to write a simple referral or print anything, and one doesn’t even know how to read emails, because she’s 82 (no, literally). Without the 2 of us admin…..the clinic would actually need to close their doors. And I don’t think they have even thought about that, like they think they’re untouchable. This job has managed to do what a horrible childhood, 6 years of homelessness, and countless other jobs never managed to do. It’s made me a miserable, mean, irritable, exhausted and negative person. And I’m not the only person they have done this to.

You missed a big one - Recruiting! the CEO is responsible for ensure the best possible talent is on your team, and you have a pipeline of functional leaders ready to roll.
At the end of the day if management is so corrupted that u can't communicate with them u aren't getting anywhere if management pencil whips there numbers and keeps treating their employes like shit and belittling them it's hard for employees to turn management in cause the fear of retaliation and losing their job
Mba here. You will get a hell of a lot more out of working your ass off for 4 years and you can learn a hell of a lot more from UA-cam. Colleges is an excuse these days to not go to work unless you want to be something like a doctor and then all you're going to be doing is selling drugs for the pharmaceutical companies. But being a drug dealer is very lucrative but that's another story

I care for my clients wholeheartedly but they end up taking advantage of my sincere interest: delay paying, cancel appointments, demand free services, try to trick my system to avoid paying. Eventually I waste time and energy and have to turn them down because they basically take advantage of me. Im in education at very high level of competence, I offer tuition. Suggestions?

Move to a 100% cash upfront before service is provided. It solves most of those problems. No exceptions. No 50% upfront. 100% upfront. You are a service provider, not a money collection agency. I switched to that about 9 years ago and it toally changes the work quality and client relationship.
ive been hiring Filipinos for the sake of cost cutting, it saves our start up about 80% per person and so far ive hired 4 full time remote filiipino staff on Manpower Genius and Upwork and ive had no regrets so far.
